Is My First Task really free to start?
Yes. The Free plan has no monthly charge and includes 100 task creations per day, 25 emails per month and 200 MB storage. Starter and Pro are flat monthly plans with higher usage limits. Confirm current billing terms in the app.
What's the difference between a task and a subtask?
A task is a standalone unit of work; a subtask is nested under a parent task for work that genuinely needs to be broken down. Tasks also support lightweight in-task checklists for smaller steps that don't need their own due date or assignee.
Does My First Task work for both structured team workflows and simple to-do lists?
Both. Set up a custom multi-stage workflow and Kanban board for team projects, or keep it to a simple list and calendar view for personal task tracking. Switch views anytime — the underlying tasks stay the same.
How does the team stay in sync?
Real-time updates, @mentions, and activity feeds keep everyone aligned. Assign tasks, leave comments, attach files, and review notifications through desktop or mobile web browsers.
Can I track bugs and issues, not just tasks?
Yes — every project includes a built-in issue tracker separate from your task board. Log severity, steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual results, and optionally link an issue to the task that will fix it.
Is my data secure?
Data is scoped to your workspace with four permission levels — Owner, Admin, Member, and Viewer — plus a full activity log so admins can see who changed what, on every project.
What is My First Task?
My First Task is a browser-based task and project management app. It combines task boards, custom project workflows, subtasks, recurring tasks, comments, issue tracking and reporting in shared workspaces.
Can I use My First Task on a phone?
You can use it through a mobile web browser. My First Task does not currently provide a native iOS or Android app; desktop and mobile refer to browser access.
How do I sign in?
My First Task uses Google sign-in. Open the app from the Start Free or Log in link, then follow the sign-in flow shown there.
Can I choose my own board columns?
Yes. A project starts with default columns, and you can rename, reorder or add columns to reflect your team's workflow.
What is the difference between a task board and a project workflow?
A task board shows the status of individual work items. A custom project workflow represents the wider lifecycle of a project, such as idea, planning, review and launch.
When should I use a subtask instead of a checklist?
Use a subtask when a piece of work needs its own ownership or tracking. Use a checklist for small steps that can stay inside the parent task's completion criteria.
Can I start a project from a template?
Yes. Templates provide a starting structure of stages, tasks and labels. Review the generated work and adjust owners, deadlines and scope before treating it as your plan.
How should I prioritize my task list?
Start with the goal, real deadlines and dependencies. The Eisenhower matrix can separate urgency from importance; RICE and WSJF help compare larger backlog ideas when scored consistently.
What is the difference between logged time and cycle time?
Logged time measures effort spent working. Cycle time measures elapsed time from a defined start to finish, including waiting. They answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Do the free planning tools require an account?
No. The calculators, matrix builder and document generators are available without signing in. Their inputs are processed in your browser and can be copied or downloaded.
Will a calculator's forecast guarantee our delivery date?
No. Capacity, velocity and estimate calculators show the scenario implied by your inputs. Dependencies, scope changes, uncertainty and changing availability can alter the outcome.
Are the productivity statistics customer success claims?
No. The statistics are external research with source links, data periods and population details. They do not measure My First Task customers or establish that the app causes productivity gains.
